Local Weather is one of two elements available in the interactive weather service. Viewers enter their postcode once (it is stored in the box). Then every ten minutes a sixty second local weather segment (that is played as part of the programming line-up) is automatically 'pushed' to viewers providing a personalised weather service based on postcode. We believe this is the first application of its kind on a satellite platform.

Austar was the first company in Australasia to launch digital interactive television. The Weather Channel is Australia's 24 hour weather channel and Australia's first TV Channel to become interactive in 2000. |
